Charles Crawford CMG









Charles Crawford CMG is a communication consultant (leadership, negotiating and public speaking) and mediator. He previously worked as a UK diplomat including three ambassador roles in central Europe


He writes and supports top-level speeches: In 2016 and 2017 he won Cicero Awards for speechwriting


In his long career as a UK diplomat he served in the British Embassy in South Africa in the final years of apartheid. He then worked in London and Moscow during Russia’s early transition from communism. He served as British Ambassador in Sarajevo after the Bosnia conflict; in Belgrade after the Milošević period; and in Warsaw during Poland’s accession to the European Union. He helped negotiate important aspects of the 2005 EU Budget deal and 2007 EU Lisbon Treaty


In 1998 he was awarded the CMG for his work supporting reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
